
Dragon Orientation for New Students (D.O.N.S.)
Donnelly College’s Dragon Orientation for New Students (D.O.N.S.) is our two-day all-encompassing orientation for new and incoming Donnelly students. The purpose of orientation is to ensure students are prepared before their first day of classes. Fall orientation is August 17 & 18. Both days are mandatory.
Thursday, August 17
- Students must arrive between 9-10 a.m. to get registered and meet peers at a free breakfast.
- Thursday’s events will include learning about Donnelly, meeting other students, faculty and staff, eating food, activities and games on-campus.
- Full schedule:
9:00-10:30 a.m. – Registration, Welcome, and Breakfast
10:30 a.m. – Student Info Session 1
12:45 p.m. – Lunch Provided
1:45 p.m. – Student Info Session 2
4:00 p.m. – Ice Cream and Ice Breakers
5:15 p.m. – Student Senate Panel
6:00 p.m. – Parents and Guests Arrive, Dinner Provided
7:00 p.m. – Family Programming and Games on the Quad
Friday, August 18
- Students must arrive by 10 a.m. on August 18.
- Friday will consist of breakfast, the last of our information sessions, lunch and Donnelly’s Day of Service.
- Day of Service is an annual tradition in which new students, faculty and staff volunteer with local organizations and non-profits around Kansas City, KS. This will last up to three hours on Friday afternoon.
- Full schedule:
10:00 a.m. – Breakfast and Opening Prayer
10:30 a.m. – Student Info Session 3
12:00 p.m. – Lunch Provided
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. – Donnelly Day of Service
Frequently Asked Questions:
Students and their guests can park in Donnelly's parking garage at the end of Barnett Ave. Orientation will take place in the main academic building.
Lots of questions! We will have everything provided for you including food, drinks, snacks, pens, notepads, Donnelly swag and an orientation booklet.

Dress for Thursday, August 17 should be normal school-day attire. We will be spending time outside. We will also be providing free t-shirts when you arrive.
Dress for Friday, August 18 should again be casual school-day attire with consideration to Day of Service in which you may be traveling to a different location and doing physical volunteer work (pants and closed-toed shoes recommended). Donnelly Day of Service t-shirts will also be provided.
Yes. Orientation is required as it is key for our new student’s success.
Yes! Family and guests are welcome at orientation, but only for the family programming Thursday evening.

Transcripts
- Donnelly Admissions requires official high school transcripts for all incoming associate degree program students and undeclared nursing students taking prerequisite courses. Students with their associate degree beginning their bachelor's degree at Donnelly also need to submit official transcripts from the institution in which you received your associate degree. Students who have earned previous college credit (including dual-credit high school courses) need to submit those transcripts as well.
- Official transcripts must be submitted by August 11 or the student may be dropped from their classes.

Ordering Books
Financial Aid Offer Letters
- All Donnelly students are eligible to receive an official financial aid offer letter. An offer letter outlines Donnelly’s overall tuition and fees less your financial aid awards to estimate cost of attendance.
- In order to receive your official financial aid offer letter, students must complete their FAFSA and share/send their Estimated Family Contribution to Donnelly College (or Donnelly's Institutional Aid Form if ineligible for the FAFSA).
