Title IX refers to a federal law, passed in 1972, that exists to provide an environment of fairness, protection, and equal opportunities for students, faculty and staff working in education programs that receive federal assistance. The goal is to address and prevent sex-based harassment, sexual violence, sex-based discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, and retaliation.
