Academic Advising

Donnelly College's Academic Advising, as part of Student Support Services, is dedicated to helping students access and utilize the skills needed to achieve academic success. Students are required to meet with an assigned success coach/advisor to develop goals and participate in activities to teach them strategies for success.

Donnelly College's academic advisors are available to explain the requirements of Donnelly's many programs and assist in decision-making related to the following:

  • Selecting semester courses
  • Planning a program of study
  • Setting goals for future learning
  • Preparing for transfer
  • Finding academic support resources
  • Dropping/adding courses

Why did you choose to work at Donnelly:

I want to see students graduate from college and reach their full potential and that is what Donnelly is about! As part of the Donnelly community, I want to help launch students as future leaders. I was the first to obtain a bachelor’s and a law degree in my family. From personal experience, I know completing a college degree is challenging.  Because of this, I am here to help students in any way that I can so students can graduate from Donnelly successfully.

What do you love most about working with students:

I love to see students obtain life skills that will make them successful in all they do and reach the goals they set their minds and hearts to. I love advising, mentoring, and teaching students at the college level. I serve the community in this way.

Fun Fact:

I have visited 10 nations while studying abroad, serving on the mission field, or simply traveling.

Words of Wisdom:

Be humble in spirit, treat all people with dignity, find ways to serve others, and give back to your community.

Why did you choose to work at Donnelly?
I have been drawn to the mission of Donnelly since I first learned about this school. This is a community that is passionate about why we are here and how we can best serve one another. I am excited to be a part of this through my work as an academic advisor, where I get to meet and interact with so many members of this community every day!

What do you love most about working with students?
My students are a great gift to me because they allow me to accompany them on their journeys and encourage them as they work towards their goals and fulfill their purpose. I love learning the stories of my students – where they come from and where they are going – and I am grateful for the opportunity to see how my students write the next part of their story!

Fun Fact:
As a child, I never moved. I grew up and lived in the same house in Connecticut until I went to college in Pennsylvania. Since then, I have moved all over the country.  In addition to Connecticut and Pennsylvania, I have lived in Texas, Nevada, Maryland, and Kansas.  (Kansas is my favorite!)

Words of Wisdom:
My “go to” words of wisdom are from the Book in Proverbs in the Bible: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
