The Higher Learning Commission, Donnelly College's national accreditor, approved a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, which will allow Registered Nursing students to complete an advanced degree in as little as four full-time semesters.
Individuals who earn a BSN in addition to completing an RN degree will have a higher salary, stronger job stability and marketability, increased career advancement potential and get ahead of changing industry regulations.
According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), 80 percent of working nurses will obtain a BSN by 2025.
In 2017, a law was passed in New York requiring all registered nurses to earn a BSN within 10 years of receiving their RN licensure. Experts in the industry predict that this law will inspire others states to enforce similar requirements in the future.
