Donnelly College's Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Omega Theta Chapter, inducted 24 new members on May 4 in the Event Center.
"The Alpha Omega Theta chapter is important to Donnelly because it creates a community of excellent students who can then support each other, hold each other accountable in their schoolwork and cheer each other on in their academic ambitions," said Melissa Lenos, PTK faculty advisor and assistant professor of English/ chair of liberal arts and sciences.
To be eligible for inititation into PTK, students must have a a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher after earning 12 credit hours at Donnelly. This international honor society for community colleges, combines academic excellence with community service. Members of PTK are eligible to enroll in the Honors Seminar course offered each spring semester.
"I love PTK induction because it celebrates the best, hardest working and most ambitious students at Donnelly College," Lenos said. "They work incredibly hard and it’s wonderful to have a ceremony where they are recognized."
