Students of Donnelly College

Suicide Prevention

In 2014, Donnelly received the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Grant from SAMHSA to start a suicide prevention program called Wellness for Life. The three-year grant allows Donnelly Counseling Center staff to provide programs and materials aiding in suicide prevention.

Additionally, Wellness for Life uses the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) method to train attendees in suicide prevention techniques. By serving as “gatekeepers,” those who have taken the free QPR course are prepared to identify risks and to proceed in a helpful, safe manner. To date, nearly 70 students, faculty and staff members have completed the training. Check Upcoming Events for a training date.

If you need to speak to someone, call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). It is FREE, confidential and always available.

There are many resources available to students in addition to QPR trainings.
