Welcome Week Celebrations Planned

Students participate in service learning to kick off the 2014-15 academic term.

Beginning August 15, Donnelly's campus will be bustling with the impending start of a new academic year. Here's a schedule of events for Welcome Week, with plenty of FREE, fun opportunities for all students, faculty and staff.

  • Saturday, August 15: Welcome Day
    9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Donnelly campus
    This kick-off event featuring food, fun and community service is mandatory for all new Donnelly students.
  • Monday, August 17: Lunch with the administration
    Noon - 1:30 p.m., Meeting Room
    New students are invited to meet the Donnelly administration and hear about success navigation from motivational speaker Tiffany Williams. Lunch will be provided.
  • Tuesday, August 18: SAC bingo
    10:40 - 11:40 a.m., Meeting Room
    Student Activities Committee (SAC) will host bingo. Food and prizes will be provided at this event open to all Donnelly students.
  • Wednesday, August 19: Student resource fair
    Noon - 2 p.m., Event Center and north parking lot
    Learn more about campus resources, student organizations and intramural sports Donnelly offers. This event is open to all Donnelly students. Want to represent your organization? Register now.
  • Thursday, August 20: Speaker & block party
    10:40 a.m.: Speaker Ross Szabo, Meeting Room
    National speaker Ross Szabo will present "Behind Happy Faces: Talking about Mental Health;" he'll offer a meet & greet for students, staff and faculty afterward.

    4 p.m.: Speaker Ross Szabo, Event Center
    Szabo will offer a second presentation for students, staff, faculty and the general public. A meet & greet will follow.

    5:30 - 8 p.m.: Block party, Event Center & north parking lot
    Join Donnelly and local Kansas City, Kansas businesses for free food, fun and games. This event is open to all Donnelly students, faculty and staff.
  • Friday, August 21: Welcome Week concludes
    10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Welcome Center hallway
    Students are invited to celebrate the end of Welcome Week with a free treat in the entryway.
