Scholarships

At Donnelly, we are committed to helping you receive plenty of financial aid and to making the process as simple as possible.

To apply for scholarships/grants at Donnelly:

  1. Complete the admissions application

  2. Complete the scholarship/grant application

Note: Priority deadline for all 2017 -18 scholarships is March 1, 2017 (unless otherwise noted).
 



Merit Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen (FAFSA ELIGIBLE)

Presidential Scholarship

Award covers 100% of tuition, fees and book rental

Requirements: 

  • 3.5 cumulative high school GPA

  • 18 ACT score or placement into college-level work

  • Completion of FAFSA by February 1

  • Award is renewable with a 3.25 college GPA


Bloch Scholarship

Award covers 100% of tuition while at Donnelly College and tuition after transferring to UMKC to complete a four-year degree. NOTE: This scholarship excludes nursing programs.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident

  • Demonstration of financial need (Pell Grant eligible)

  • High school diploma or GED OR current Donnelly student with less than 30 hours of college credit

  • Must live in Kansas City metropolitan area

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Note:

  • Deadline: March 1, 2017. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted

  • Those selected for an interview will do so with the Bloch Committee on a date to be announced.


Sister Jerome Scholarship

Award covers 75% of tuition and fees

Requirements:

  • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA

  • Award is renewable with a 3.25 college GPA


Bishop Donnelly Scholarship

Award covers 50% of tuition and fees

Requirements: 

  • 3.0 cumulative high school GPA

  • Completion of FAFSA by February 1

  • Award is renewable with a 3.25 college GPA


Heartland College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Grant

First year academic and social support, which includes tuition, books and loaner laptop.

Requirements:

  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident

  • Be identifed as a current or former migrant (Definition: Student has, or has at least one immediate family member who has, spent a minimum of 75 days during the past 24 months as a migrant or seasonal farmworker; or is eligible to participate, or has participated, in a Migrant Education Program or the National Farmworkers Jobs Programs)

  • Enroll as a full-time student with freshman status

  • Commit to participate in all required Heartland CAMP services and activities

National Science Foundation STEM Scholarship

Award offers a renewable $4,000/year need-based scholarship 

Requirements:

  • US citizen, nationals of the US, aliens admitted as refugees, or permanent residents

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or an Associate degrees with emphasis in Information Technology, Math or Natural Science

  • Renewable each semester through graduation as long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA in STEM courses

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA overall or a STEM GPA of at least 2.5 from high school or transfer institution

  • Students receiving scholarship support must maintain full-time student status (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) and participate in all required Project S4 activities

  • Both incoming freshmen and transfer students may qualify; associate degree students must be incoming freshmen

  • Demonstrated financial needs as defined for undergraduate students by the FAFSA


 

Catholic High School Award

$1,000 per semester

Requirements:

  • Provide an official transcript from an accredited Catholic high school

  • Maintain full-time enrollment status

  • Renewable up to 12 semesters (excludes summer)

  • Not stackable against other internal scholarships

BizFest Scholarship

Award will be 100% of tuition, fees, and book rental

Requirements: 

  • 3.5 cumulative high school GPA

  • Participation in BizFest (certificate required)

  • 18 ACT score or placement into college-level work

  • Four recipients selected per year

  • Award is renewable with a 3.25 college GPA


Sandusky Avenue Award

75% of tuition and fees

Requirements:

  • 3.25 cumulative high school GPA

  • Interview is required

  • Ten recipients selected per year

  • Award renewable with a 3.25 college GPA


 

Scholarships for Current Students

Student Support Services Grant Aid Award

Based on availability

Requirements:

  • Pell Grant eligible (determined by FAFASA)

  • First-generation college student and/or financial need

  • GPA above 2.0 and in academic good standing

How to apply:

  • Pick up an application at the second floor lobby desk or in room 211B

  • Submit completed application no later than deadline to Mary Pflanz in room 211B

  • Deadline: April 15 for fall semester; November 11 for spring semester


 

EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS

KC Scholars 

Whether you're a high school student or adult learner who is looking to continue your education, you may be eligible to apply for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation's new KC Scholars program and attend Donnelly College.

KC Scholars is available to low and modest income students living in Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte counties in Missouri, and Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. 

Donnelly College will accept these two scholarships from the KC Scholars Program:

Traditional Scholarship (available for students starting Fall 2018 or later)
- applications submitted by students in their 11th grade year 
- awarded up to $10,000 per year, renewable up to five years 
- must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher 

Adult Learner (available for students starting Fall 2017 or later)
- must be age 24 or older 
- awarded up to $5,000 per year, renewable up to five years
