Catholic Identity

Our educational approach is rooted in the 1,500-year-old Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine values of community and inclusiveness.

Donnelly is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, and is one of only 10 diocesan colleges in the nation. The College was founded in 1949 as a joint venture of Bishop George Donnelly and Sister Jerome Keeler, a Benedictine nun from Mount St. Scholastica monastery in Atchison, Kansas.

From its inception, the vision for Donnelly College was clear and resolute: to make Catholic higher education accessible to everyone. More than 65 years later, and deeply rooted in the fullness of Catholic social teaching, Donnelly College maintains this unwavering commitment today, when perhaps it is needed more than ever.
